"Then Jesus approached and said to the disciples,
'All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.'"
--- Matthew 28:18-20
Baptism is one of the greatest gifts that God has given us, and one of the greatest gifts that parents can give to their children. Through Baptism, a person is united to the saving death and resurrection of Jesus Christ; or, to put it another way, what Jesus did for us by dying and rising from the dead is applied individually to the baptized person.
When someone is baptized, the risen life of the Lord Jesus begins to live in that person’s soul. This person begins the adventure of the Christian life, in which he or she is called to become like Jesus Himself. It is our union with the Lord Jesus, which begins with Baptism, that gives us the hope of heaven.
Baptism, then, is so much more than just a "naming ceremony" or a blessing for a new child. It should be the highest priority of every Christian parent to see that their child is baptized very early in his/her earthly life. Because of the importance of Baptism, this sacrament is approached with great reverence and care at Blessed Trinity Catholic Parish.
To begin the baptismal preparation process please complete the form below.
1. Register your child for baptism by completing the "Request Form for Infant Baptism" below.
2. Once the form is recieved, Fr. Joe will reach out to schedule a meeting so that he can get to know you and describe the preparation process. At this time, a hoped-for date of baptism can be discussed.
3. Enroll in pre-Baptismal classes online at CatholicBaptismPrep.com. This will take approximately 10 days to complete and costs $65. Please include fr.joseph.baker@btcatholic.us as the parish contact, as the church will receive a copy of your participation certificate via email.
4. Obtain bulletins from Masses for 4 consecutive weeks (either at Blessed Trinity or elsewhere) and bring them to your follow-up meeting with the pastor.
5. Have each Catholic Godparent (Sponsor) complete the Sponsor Guidelines and Certificate Form, have it signed by their pastor, and return it to the parish secretary at least 10 days prior to the date of the baptism. A $25.00 fee to help defray the cost of materials for the baptism must also be paid to the parish secretary at least 10 days prior to the date of baptism.
6. Schedule and attend a follow-up meeting with the pastor at least 2 weeks before the hoped-for date of baptism.
